ULMMC - Uttarakhand Landslide Mitigation And Management Centre - Mandate

I. Reconnaissance Survey :-

  • Identification of landslide sites.
  • Preliminary site survey and field observation for landslide characteristics.
  • Project formulation defining the objective and scope of work.

II. Desk study :-

  • Studying the available and data collected during the reconnaissance survey.
  • Collection of geological/geotechnical data and studies of nearby areas if done by any organization.
  • Collection of topographical maps, satellite images, geological maps, and hydrological information etc.
  • Planning necessary investigations.

III. Field Investigation :-

  • Topographical & Geospatial surveys.
  • Engineering Geological investigations.
  • Geophysical investigations.
  • Geotechnical investigations.
  • Hydrological studies

VI. Landslide Hazard and Risk Assessment :-

  • Identification of unstable slopes and landslide inventory.
  • Thematic data layers in GIS.
  • Spatial data analysis in GIS for landslide hazard and risk assessment.

V. Analysis and design measures :-

  • Slope stability analysis under different conditions.
  • Selection of adoptable mitigation measures.
  • Design of mitigation measures.

VI. Evaluation and Preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) of slope stabilization :-

  • Evaluation of DPR, related to landslides prepared by various state government organization of Uttarakhand.
  • Preparation of DPR for landslide mitigation measures for landslide projects.

VII. Instrumentation and Monitoring :-

  • Real-time monitoring of landslides using various instruments.
  • Landslide forecasting and early warning.

VIII. Other Activities :-

  • Supervision of quality control of civil works including cost.
  • Providing consultancy to other states and organizations on commercial scale.
  • Imparting training to govt and non-govt engineers on practices to manage slopes to avoid disasters.
  • Organising conferences and seminars.
